Market Update

VEG NEWS

Tomatoes – SA tomatoes are great quality, but the prices may go up again next week. Local supply is small and quality not there and is still expensive. Tough time for tomatoes at the moment

Broccoli/Cauliflower – The change of weather to cold without any rain has slowed down all these crops. next week will see very expensive prices on these lines. May not be available at all. it will ease as the rain has now come but next week will be tough. 

Broccolini – Supply is very, very short. with only one drop to the markets next week. we may not be able to provide full supply. 

Eggs – Still in very short supply. 

Asparagus – Loose local readily available and Mexican Bunches. expect high prices. 

Capsicums – Reds will start to pick up towards the end of next week. Green capsicums are great quality and in full supply. 

Mushroom – Mushroom supply steady but prices remain high. 

Medley Tomatoes – Amazing local fruit has started 

Lebanese Cucumber – Still high prices. No ease in sight. 

Beans – Bean supply will be tough for the next two weeks. expect high prices 

Garlic – Local garlic is coming to an end. Expect Mexican/Argentinian garlic towards the end of next week

 

FRUIT NEWS

Grapes – One to two weeks left of grapes before they finish up for the season 

Apples – Gala apple quality a bit hit or miss. 

Blueberries – Only local fruit available. 10 out 10 quality but also very high prices. 

Cherries – USA Cherries are now available. Can be bought as loose premium or in punnets.  

Kiwi Fruit – Local Kiwi Fruit season is now in full swing.
