Market Update Thursday 2-5-24

Fruit

Kiwi fruit – Beautiful new season Donnybrook kiwi fruit has started, very nice.

Plums – today was the last day, all finished for the season.

Oranges – Moora Citrus is in full swing, quality is sensational, stock those shelves.

Strawberries – although local fruit has started dribbling in, quality is average, we will stick to Southwest strawberries until Wanneroo improve.

Bananas – prices still high and quality still not great.

Blueberries – local Jumbo fruit still getting $11-$12 each, but fruit is very good.

Mandarins – Imperial Queensland fruit has been ok, still no WA fruit.

Pineapples – Queensland rains still causing problems, supply very short and prices high.

Pinkladys – although new season, as usual growers not sending their best fruit in, quality just ok.

Watermelon – Ceres Kununurra watermelon is fantastic, prices firm.

Vegetables

Red/Yellow Capsicum – Extremely short in supply, nothing in the markets for under $12/kg sorry.

Burpless – cucumber supply has shortened with 2 growers between crops, prices up close to $4 each.

Eggs – supply very bad again and cutbacks will occur, prices up approx. $0.20/dozen.

Egg Plant – I switched to South Australia Hydro this week, although expensive, local quality just wasn’t good enough.

Tomatoes – Local season coming to an end, so supply is very short and prices have spiked this week dramatically, Roma tomatoes costing $9/kg.

Cauliflowers – supply has improved, and prices have dropped, Canzirri 8 counts have been sensational this week.

Cabbages – supply has improved, and prices have eases, red and savoy still very short.

Beans – I’m not happy with quality or prices, very difficult line at the moment.

Snow/Sugar – Local growers have started picking but volume very light, prices very firm.

Have a great weekend everyone 😊

Wes
